Optek Systems Laboratory Build
Total Laboratories were tasked with creating a brand new headquarters for Optek Systems, a leading precision laser processing company in Abingdon. Total Laboratories completed a full design & build fit-out of two new build adjoining warehouse units to create a hi-tech facility at the Foxcombe development, Abingdon Business Park in Oxfordshire.
OpTek Systems, which was bought by the USA-based Humanetics Group last year, was founded in 2000 by Mike Osborne and two entrepreneurial engineers in Oxford. Following rapid growth, the business has already expanded its facilities in Asia, and has opened a new facility in Massachusetts to add to its existing site in South Carolina. The company has been recognised by two successive Queen’s Awards for International Trade. In the UK, the move into Foxcombe brings all three of its Oxford operations under one roof, in a purpose designed building.
The project started with the installation of a 17,000 sq ft mezzanine floor to accommodate office and storage space. The ground floor was fitted out to provide laboratories and manufacturing space.
